IKEBANA INTERNATIONAL (I.I.) is a non-profit cultural organization dedicated to the promotion and appreciation of IKEBANA, the Japanese art of flower arrangement. When the late Ellen Gordon Allen founded the organization in 1956, her dream was to create an organization uniting the peoples of the world through their mutual love of nature and enjoyment of IKEBANA. That dream has now spread to over 60 countries/area, with 165 chapters and membership of approximately 8,500 persons. The Manila Chapter is one of those chapters.
In 1966, Carmen S. Guevara founded the Manila Chapter with Rose L. Avancena, Virginia M. Avancena, Remedios R. Cepeda, Dolores A. Luz, Jane Markusson, Gloria L. Monzon, Pilar Relova, Carmen M. Roces, Asuncion del Rosario and Susie Winternitz as founding members.
This website is dedicated to our Founding President, the founding members, and the numerous members who have offered their time and effort in the propagation of the art of Ikebana, with the motto of "Friendship through Flowers" as their guiding spirit in whatever they created and accomplished.
